Free Remote Work Tools to Help Your Team Stay Connected

With the current work environment changing drastically in the last few weeks, it is important that companies understand how to operate remotely. While some companies are equipped to handle a majority of their team working from home, many people are in the dark when it comes to working totally online. Luckily, there are many free tools available online that employees can use at home for their own work in order to connect with their teams and maintain productivity. 

Remote working tools have a wide range of functionality, allowing employees to stay on track, increase results, and maximize output. Just like the systems that were in place to regulate your day-to-day operations in a physical office setting, online tools can help stay on track as well. 

The Business News Daily article I previously mentioned highlights several important tools that companies can use for free to enhance the work from home experience. My own team has been using several of these for a while and found them to be incredibly beneficial in creating connections and keeping the team engaged. For communication purposes, consider the following:

  • Slack
  • Zoom 
  • Microsoft Teams 

For remote scheduling or management tools consider: 

  • HubSpot Meetings
  • Setmore
  • Basecamp
  • Asana

 

While all of these are great resources to use, the only way they will be effective is if we have the proper mindset in establishing this remote work environment. We must understand that a remote team will look different from the in-person office environment we are used to. But a drastic change in the way we work does not have to equate to a drastic change in productivity.

Many of us will also feel disconnected at this time, as we adjust to seeing our coworkers through a screen rather than in person. But remember, we don’t have to be in person to do something personal. Take the initiative to keep collaboration alive. 

It can be intimidating to completely reestablish a way of planning and communicating with your team. But the first step to success in this time is simply figuring out the tools that will help move your company forward and how to effectively integrate them into your new work environment.
